RoboWrestling specializes in autonomous robot combat in the style of Japanese Sumo tournaments. Weight, speed, and reaction time are crucial factors in the sport of Robot-Sumo. The team focuses on iterating on past robots and on developing new designs by experimenting with strategies and technologies such as object detection algorithms and FEA.
The Competitions
All Japan Robot-Sumo Tournament (AJRST)
In the Sumo competition, autonomous robots try to push other robots out of a ring. The catch is that this ring is made of steel and you can put as many magnets as you can fit on the robot. This is a yearly single elimination style competition that takes place in Mid-December in Tokyo, Japan. Over 30 countries are represented in this international competition. We take 2 robots to this competition.
RoboGames
Annual US qualifier for AJRST. This usually takes place in April around San Mateo, California. We participate in the 3kg Autonomous Robot Sumo Category as well as the 500g Autonomous Robot Sumo. Top placement at this competition gives us an invitation to AJRST as the representative for the USA.
