RoboJackets is turning 20 next year! To celebrate, we are hosting an event on March 30th dedicated to robotics at Georgia Tech. (RoboCup will run until the 31st.) This event is open to everyone and admission is free! Come out and join us for a day of robotics showcases and competitions, featuring: 3lber Combat Robots, autonomous RC car racing, RoboCup SSL scrimmages, and a LEGO Sumo Competition.
March 30th, 2019 – RoboCup will run both the 30th and the 31st
Our event will be hosted on the Georgia Tech Atlanta campus. Most events will take place in the Student Center and the surrounding area.
Team registration forms and competition rules will be sent out soon. In the meantime, here are the descriptions of each competition:
Combat Robots (Student Center Ballroom): 32 three pounder robots will fight in a double elimination bracket. The rules will follow those used in most combat robotics competition in the US (like RoboGames and Motorama).
RoboCup (Student Center Ballroom): This is a regional scrimmage for the international conference RoboCup. We are only hosting a small size league (SSL) competition, with teams from 6v6 up to 8v8 competing in fully autonomous soccer.
RoboRacing (Campanile): This hobbyist level autonomous racing competition will have 1/10th and 1/16th scale RC cars retrofitted with cameras. The cars will race through a small obstacle course around the Campanile.
Lego Sumo (Student Center): This competition is a simplified version of the annual Japanese autonomous sumo competition. Two robots made out NXT lego components start on either end of a white ring on a black surface and try to push the other robot out of the ring. This event is open to all ages.
Showcases (all over campus): We are working with our corporate sponsors and connections within the Institute to see what kind of STEM activities/demos they could provide for the event.
If you are interested in participating in the event fill out this interest form and get advanced notice on registration.
Hope to see you there!
